[opensuse-kde] Pidgin keeps trying to get pw from kwallet
I have opensuse 11.2 and the kwallet thing is disabled but Pidgin continuously tries to get a password from it. No password entered will get past the dialog, but Pidgin works ok anyway. I dont know if it's related but Pidgin will not store the password no matter what I try. How do I get rid of such a nuisance? Pidgin is not a KDE app, are you sure it is asking for kwallet and not some gnome app? Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Yes, it's asking for kwallet. It worked right until I made the mistake of enabling kwallet. Upon seeing my mistake I disabled kwallet but Pidgin never got the message I guess. I guess I need to know how to retrain such apps. Richard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

You prolly have ~/.pidgin/ or something like that (hidden folder in your home). (re)moving that should return you to the default configuration - of course that would mean you have to reconfigure your accounts and other stuff. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I tried deleting the config file which is in the .purple folder under my user. That didnt do anything. I did notice my wife's laptop is having a similar problem and she's using opensuse 11.0 and kde3. I may shotgun it and delete Pidgin and see if reinstalling it will do any good or maybe go to a previous version. http://forums.opensuse.org/install-boot-login/425581-pidgin-keyring-3.html might help. Or search within pidgin for a kwallet plugin and disable it. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Sven, Alex and all who replied. Even though the pidgin conf is supposed to be in the .purple directory, it was the keyring in .gnome2 that was the culprit. I followed the steps at: http://forums.opensuse.org/install-boot-login/425581-pidgin-keyring-3.html and that did it. Thanks to everyone,.
