[opensuse-kde] Repo chaos!!!
So, it is very strange how the repos are managed. I had until now kde:43 enabled. Now kde:kde4:stable changed to 4.3.5 and kde43 stayed by 4.3.4 - OK I know the 4.3 repo will be erased anytime, but why is digikam 1.0.x.x on 43 repo and on the new stable 4.3.5 repo there is digikam 0.10.x.x.x. For some reason there are a few extra apps in KDE43, probably because it was made as a copy of KKFD. Don't worry about it, it'll be less confusing once 43 disappears ... In the meantime digikam 1.0 is also available in KDE:Backports (which will work with KDE:KDE4:Stable:Desktop) and this is the recommended way to get it. Hello, well, I have digiKam version 1.0.0, but after upgrade to 4.3.5, there are several (very important) functions missing making it almost useless. I can not do some batch operations like renaming (I have KIPI plugins and Krenamer), I can not equalize colors in image editor, I can not use crop with preserving aspect ration and so on. It was working in previous KDE from KDE STABLE (4.3.4) repo, but now the functions are missing... Deleting of files in ~/.kde4/ does not help. (For the 100th time...) STABLE == Latest official openSUSE release of KDE + (unreleased) patches. Latest official openSUSE release had Amarok 2.1.1, digiKam 0.10.x etc., which are the versions officially released, tested and supported with 11.2. Therefore of course these are the versions in the STABLE repo. Newer versions of KDE apps for STABLE/official KDE are in the KDE:Backports repo. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hi, Especially this two apps (amarok and digikam) which are not part of the 'core' KDE and doesn't follow KDE's roadmap: http://kde.org/whatiskde/project.php#distribution Regards, Luiz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Sorry, I'm informed about this, but im still using 11.0 on this machine, and therefore backports and stable repo dont contain digikam 1.0, kde4-kio_sysinfo. Its a pity that this worked with the 43 repo. So it seems to be the only solution to install 11.2 or move to kde factory with 4.4. Daniel

Stable has version 0.10.0 because that's what is available in the released openSUSE 11.2. And backports has version 1.0.0... just that it fails to build for pre-11.2 versions. Right now it fails to build even for 11.2, so no idea why it failed for pre-11.2. ...I am going to create a submitreq to fix the current problem, then we will see what happens with pre-11.2 (but I'm not so motivated to fix problems for older versions). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I created SR #30858... since the patch didn't applied I had to branch Factory directly. And since now there is http://news.opensuse.org/2010/01/11/obs-supports-new-branch-and-merge-handli... not sure if everything will be ok. Anyway, doesn't builds in 11.1... not sure why it does in KKFD (newer Qt?). And 11.0 doesn't even provides the needed libraries (kipi must be > 0.2.0 and 11.0 provides 0.1.6, etc.). So, if you want the latest digikam, use KKFD. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
