And who is upstream? Believe me, this is one of the things that will keep me from switching to kde4. This setup works, no reason to change it, and it's been easy up until now to upgrade. Even when the switch to kontact happened, I didn't have a problem. A simple copy over and all was well.
This is unfortunate, but since the kdepim-team is small, i.e. lacks developers, I think they should concentrate on making kdepim4 work for 4.1. If somebody is up for writing some script or utility to convert kmail3 to kmail4 fair enough, but I'd rather have a working kdepim4 and have to set it up anew then having a buggy one which can use the kde3 settings.
I'll make the assumption that kdepim is the replacement for kontact/kmail. If I could write a script, I'd do it. But that's something that I can't do.
Especially since kmail3 within kde4 works perfectly, so "I'm not going to switch to kde4 because I use kmail3" is not valid IMO.
Not really. I'm not that fond of kde4 yet. It's installed, but it will take some getting used to. I hate to say it, but it reminds me a lot of vista. I know it's different, and even in the state it's in right now probably a lot more stable, but that's my first impression. I'll work with it some more to learn it. Either way, by the time I switch permanently, It will probably be kde4.5 or so.. Mike
