Addenum about "smplayer": A functioning (Evergreen+OSS) snapshot-version can be found in the packman-repo. No need per se for it in KDE:Extra, as most of its users would be using mplayer from there, too. None the less, thanks for the clarifying. Cheers, Yamaban.
