This is unrelated to KDE3. Sorry for posting it here, but maybe somebody might have tried it, too. I have a new computer that came with Windows 10, which uses UEFI with a disk that has a GPT label. I would like to erase Windows and install Leap 42.1 on it using Legacy Bios and a MBR disk label. I was able to switch to "Legacy only" in the boot setup and boot from the openSUSE CD. I selected "Expert Partitioner" in the installer. However, I did not see any option to change the disk label from GPT to MBR.
Does anybody have any insight whether the Expert Partitioner has some way of letting me change the disk label from GPT to MBR?
WRT expert partitioner I have no idea. I always fully partition in advance of booting any installation media. I use the expert partitioner exclusively for designating mount points, mount options and when necessary, formatting. What you could do, if partitioning fully in advance is not your cup of tea, is a pseudo advance. Once you reach the openSUSE license screen, switch to vtty2, wipe the HD (if necessary) first, then use whatever cmdline partitioning tool(s) is/are provided on the installation media, parted, fdisk, gdisk, whatever, to create any partition using MBR style prior to returning to the license screen and proceeding into the expert partitioner. Of course, if your disk is >2TB, MBR partitioning is not an option unless limiting use of the device to its first 2TB is OK with you. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
