tks,
I had problems with sound - a second or two's delay on attention warnings, followed on a later update by no sound at all - so resorted to my usual trick and disabled PulseAudio. Logged off and on and the sound worked fine. No saying whether that will work with your hardware but it might be worth a try. -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 12.3-B1 (64-bit); KDE 4.9.98; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (using nouveau driver); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA); Wireless: BCM4306 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Success, but I do not know why. I added to ~/.bashrc: export KMIX_PULSEAUDIO_DISABLE=1 logged out and back in no sound removed export line from ~/.bashrc logged out and back in I now have sound and controlled by pulseaudio. go figure :^))) tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

It's a known bug of PulseAudio 2.1. Upgrading to PA 3.0 should fix it. The upgrade to PA 3.0 has been in the devel project (multimedia:libs) since over a month ago, but it wasn't merged to 12.3. Just grab pulseaudio 3.0 from OBS multimedia:libs. Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

And was submitted to Factory on Jan 25, way deep into feature freeze, without an introduction mail to the list why this should be considered for 12.3, as coolo requested multiple time to be done for exception handling. PA update from 2.1 to 3.0 at this stage requires VERY good reasoning I guess.. it's not just a 2.1 to 2.1.0.1 jump... (not that the version number would mean anything...)
Just grab pulseaudio 3.0 from OBS multimedia:libs.
So that will be the official statement for after the 12.3 release? I surely hope this is NOT what we are aiming for! If we do, we should just cancel the distribution and agree that we are not willing to produce quality dists. currently running pa 3.0 but cannot say it solved any problems as problem disappear unexpectedly but not w/o some maneuvers. pa 3.0 has not caused any probs and appears functioning as expected. tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
