Hello,
I would like to issue a delete request against these two. Or is there anybody who wants to take over imap?
Does this mean we do not have any standard imap server nor client anymore?
for me the question would be what a "standard" imap server is.
I haven't used "imap" more than 20 years meanwhile but in the past Cyrus and since almost 10 years now Dovecot.
I understand that those are a bit more complicated and feature rich but then again I guess Dovecot could be rather easy configured to work out of the box similar to imap if that is a requirement (and if it's not already the case).

In my experience, dovecot does work pretty much "out-of-the-box", apart from needing to generate (or re-generate) identity certs if one wants to use imaps. I've been running it for 10 years + and the only config I've ever needed to do was to tell it what type of local mailstore to use (I use Maildir rather than the default).
