See for yourself: http://software.opensuse.org/package/cdrtools For the record: I'm all for getting cdrtools back into the distro officially, but that has nothing to do with the original question (to which the answer was and still is: cdrecord has been replaced with something else that more or less does the same thing from a user perspective). This is what happens if you configure multimedia:apps and install cdrecord: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- zypper> in cdrecord Resolving package dependencies... Problem: cdrkit-cdrtools-compat-1.1.11-8.1.2.i586 requires wodim = 1.1.11-8.1.2, but this requirement cannot be provided Solution 1: Following actions will be done: replacement of cdrkit-cdrtools-compat-1.1.11-8.1.2.i586 with cdrtools-3.01a08-1.2.i586 replacement of genisoimage-1.1.11-8.1.2.i586 with mkisofs-3.01a08-1.2.i586 replacement of icedax-1.1.11-8.1.2.i586 with cdda2wav-3.01a08-1.2.i586 Solution 2: do not install cdrecord-3.01a08-1.2.i586 Solution 3: break cdrkit-cdrtools-compat-1.1.11-8.1.2.i586 by ignoring some of its dependencies Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/3/c] (c): 1 Resolving dependencies... Resolving package dependencies... The following NEW packages are going to be installed: cdda2wav cdrecord cdrtools mkisofs The following packages are going to be REMOVED: cdrkit-cdrtools-compat genisoimage icedax wodim --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- The problem is that you need to lower the priority of multimedia:apps or the next dup will switch over a number of packages to this repo (since it generally has bumped up build numbers). You can solve this by playing around with priorities and locks, but it's not a recommended configuration.
