Many windows users think seeing text during boot is an indication of a problem. You have no idea how many bug reports I have seen where any text message at all is referred to as an "error message" even when it clearly states "INFO" I do agree it needs to be easy to disable, for people who know what they're doing (or better: who know what they are reading).
