[opensuse-factory] Kmail, also after latest update "Email Sending failed"
by constant@indo.net.id 30 Dec '17
by constant@indo.net.id 30 Dec '17
30 Dec '17
Update 20171228 did not bring any improvement for my ailing Kmail.
Have followed the correspondence about the "failed to transport message.
Even tried my hand on the debug proposition but failed somewhere along the
route.
Suspected that due to the long use of my Kmail some irregularties must
heve krept in my kmail setup I set a new kmail up from zero in an new user
to no avail.
The only difference between my old long used setup and the fresh setup was
the message "Failed to Transport Message.2 and Failed transport Message,
service error" (my old setup) into "Failed to Transport Message.6"
Is thee a chance to have a functioning Kmail still this year ? ;)

[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed - Review of the week 2017/52
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 29 Dec '17
by Dominique Leuenberger / DimStar 29 Dec '17
29 Dec '17
Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
We end the year with a big bang – and one more weekly review. The
holiday season struck us: many contributors enjoyed some days away from
the computers AND openQA decided also to leave on a short break. For
this reason we were not able to pass snapshots on to you, or let’s say,
not more than thw two snapshots 1222 and 1223.
Despite all absences, the snapshots still contain substantial changes,
namely:
* QEmu 2.11.0
* Qt 5.10
* Linux kernel 4.14.8
* JDK 10 is now used to build anything Java related
The staging projects are already filled again and these are the main
things being prepared:
* Linux kernel 4.14.9
* KDE Frameworks 5.41.0
* RPM 4.14.0 (only a handful packages still to be fixed)
* Libreoffice 6.0
* Poppler 0.62.0
* ICU 60
* The YaST Team’s libstorage-ng implementation
* KDE3 will be removed from Tumbleweed
I wish you all a great new-year celebration ahead, see you in 2018!
Dominique

- Recover udev 42-hd-audio-pm.rules for TW that was dropped
mistakenly at the previous change

this requires is no longer needed.
==== dhcp ====
Subpackages: dhcp-client dhcp-doc dhcp-relay dhcp-server

openSUSE distributions are systemd based so there isn't much point
in keeping sysvinit support and files around.
- Replace references to /var/adm/fillup-templates with new
%_fillupdir macro (boo#1069468)
- Replace net-tools Requires in dhcp-client with hostname on
suse_version >= 1330 (CODE15): net-tools does no longer provide
any tool referenced by dhclient-script, but we require hostname
(which is also a dependency to net-tools, thus hiding the issue).
- use .gz year instead of current one to make build reproducible

(boo#1067213).
==== glusterfs ====
Version update (3.8.15 -> 3.12.3)

multiplexed in a processes
* Enhanced the option to export statfs data for bricks
sharing the same backend filesystem
* Provided a means to resolve GFID split-brain using
the gluster CLI
* Introduction of new api glfs_fd_set_lkowner() to set lock owner
- Remove glusterfs-date.diff (no longer applies)
==== gnome-code-assistance ====
- Fix some rpmlint warnings:
+ env-script-interpreter: Replace (using sed) /usr/bin/env FOO
hasbangs.
+ empty-%post/postun: disable the scripts on suse_version > 1320:
%glib2_gsettings_schema_post/post are no longer needed as the

==== libjpeg-turbo ====
Version update (1.5.2 -> 1.5.3)
Subpackages: libjpeg8 libjpeg8-32bit libturbojpeg0
- - update to version 1.5.3
1. Fixed a NullPointerException in the TurboJPEG Java wrapper that occurred
when using the YUVImage constructor that creates an instance backed by separate
image planes and allocates memory for the image planes.
2. Fixed an issue whereby the Java version of TJUnitTest would fail when
testing BufferedImage encoding/decoding on big endian systems.
3. Fixed a segfault in djpeg that would occur if an output format other than
PPM/PGM was selected along with the `-crop` option. The `-crop` option now
works with the GIF and Targa formats as well (unfortunately, it cannot be made
to work with the BMP and RLE formats due to the fact that those output engines
write scanlines in bottom-up order.) djpeg will now exit gracefully if an
output format other than PPM/PGM, GIF, or Targa is selected along with the
`-crop` option.
4. Fixed an issue whereby `jpeg_skip_scanlines()` would segfault if color
quantization was enabled.
5. TJBench (both C and Java versions) will now display usage information if any
command-line argument is unrecognized. This prevents the program from silently
ignoring typos.
6. Fixed an access violation in tjbench.exe (Windows) that occurred when the
program was used to decompress an existing JPEG image.
7. Fixed an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in the TJExample Java program that
occurred when attempting to decompress a JPEG image that had been compressed
with 4:1:1 chrominance subsampling.
8. Fixed an issue whereby, when using `jpeg_skip_scanlines()` to skip to the
end of a single-scan (non-progressive) image, subsequent calls to
`jpeg_consume_input()` would return `JPEG_SUSPENDED` rather than
`JPEG_REACHED_EOI`.
9. `jpeg_crop_scanlines()` now works correctly when decompressing grayscale
JPEG images that were compressed with a sampling factor other than 1 (for
instance, with `cjpeg -grayscale -sample 2x2`).
==== libjpeg62-turbo ====
Subpackages: libjpeg62 libjpeg62-devel
- update to version 1.5.3

==== netpbm ====
Version update (10.78.5 -> 10.80.1)
Subpackages: libnetpbm-devel libnetpbm11
- updated to 10.80.1
* pnmtopalm: Refuse to create a compressed image with more than 8
bits per pixel.
* pbmtext, libnetpbm font facilities: allow glyphs in font files
that have no bitmap data; just used for their advance value to
code a space.
* pbmtext: Improve error message when there is a problem reading
the font file.
* libnetpbm font facilities: consider font invalid if a glyph is
more than 65536 pixels high or wide.
* ppmshadow: handle images with a black background and low
contrast images (i.e. little difference between foreground and
background).
* ppmbrighten: fix bug: red pixels change hue. Introduced in
after Netpbm 10.11 (October 2002) and before Netpbm 10.18
(September 2003).
* palmtopnm: fix crash if invalid input contains color index that
is not in the palette. Always broken (palmtopnm was new in
Netpbm 9.10 (October 2001)).
* pnmtopalm: fix incorrect output with certain input files and
- packbits_compression. Always broken. -packbits_compression
was new in Netpbm 10.27 (March 2005).
* pnmtopalm: Correct error message recommending running
pnmquant when the real solution is to run pnmremap to modify the
image to Palm standard colors.
* pnmtopalm: Fix bug causing "color not in colormap" failure with
- colormap and maxval other than 255.
* libnetpbm: font facilities: fix invalid memory reference with
certain font files.
* libnetpbm: ppm_readcolordict: Improve error message when there is
a problem reading the color dictionary. Affects ppmhist.
* pgmmake: Fix bug: treats non-numeric gray-level argument as zero.
Always broken (Pgmmake was new in Netpbm 10.32, February 2006).
* pdbimgtopam, pamtopdbimg: fix various cases of incorrect output,
some always present (programs were new in Netpbm 10.52.00
(October 2010)).
* libnetpbm: pnm_parsecolorn(), pnm_parsecolor(): fix parsing of
rgb: color specifications: yields value slightly too dim.
Affects many programs. Broken in Netpbm 10.79 (June 2017).
- Version update to 10.79.3:
* Fix license clash between GPL-2 and GPL-3
* Few small fixes
- Drop patch netpbm-missing-file-close.patch fixed differently by
upstream
- Drop patch netpbm-jasper.patch which is no longer needed
- Remove accidental -O0 added to cflags
- Version update to 10.79.2:
* Fix 'format-security' GNU compiler warning.
* libnetpbm: pnm_parsecolorn(), pnm_parsecolor(): fix parsing of
rgb: color specifications: yields value slightly too dim.
* pamgauss: Add -maximize, -oversample . Thanks Anton Shepelev
<anton.txt(a)gmail.com>
* pnmconvol: Extend -normalize to be applicable to convolution
kernels specified by PGM file. Thanks Anton Shepelev
<anton.txt(a)gmail.com>
* g3topbm: tolerate fill bits.
* pbmtog3: Add -align8, -align16.
* ppmshadow: Improve results for very small maxval.
* ppmshadow: eliminate extraneous messages from pnmconvol.
* libnetpbm: Improve error message for purported image that is
exactly 1 byte long (so ends in the middle of what would be the
magic number).
* pbmtox10bm: Get the Perl interpreter for this Perl program from
the PATH instead of hardcoded as /usr/bin/perl (like all other
Netpbm Perl programs).
* ppmcolormask: fix incorrect output when input maxval is not 255.
* bmptopnm: fix crash when input is a Windows BMP with negative
number for width. Always broken. (bmptopnm was new, as
bmptoppm, in original Netpbm, 1992).
* pamcomp: fix incorrect output with -mixtransparency.
Always broken. (-mixtransparency was new in Netpbm 10.56,
September 2011).
* pamcomp: remove debug trace message with -mixtransparency.
Always broken. (-mixtransparency was new in Netpbm 10.56,
September 2011).
* pnmtojpeg: fix array bounds violation in argument list. Always
broken (pnmtojpeg was new to Netpbm in Netpbm 8.2 (March 2000).
* pamcrater: fix incorrect output with non-square image.
Introduced in Netpbm 10.69 (December 2014).
* svgtopam: fix treating negative width or height values in SVG
like twos complement positive numbers; fail instead. Always
broken (svgtopam was new in Netpbm 10.33 (March 2006)).
* svgtopam: fix error messages when input has splines or negative
positions. Always broken (svgtopam was new in Netpbm 10.33
(March 2006)).
* libnetpbm: fix bug: pm_system_XXX closes Standard Input if you
supply a Standard Output accepter but not a Standard Input
feeder. Broken since Netpbm 10.40 (September 2007).
* Build: don't try to build standardppmdfont.c if it already
exists (so don't require ppmdcfont to exist). Broken around
Netpbm 10.35 (2006).
* Build: Define _XOPEN_SOURCE=500 in source files that use M_PI.
While C libraries in the past have always provided this with
just _XOPEN_SOURCE=null, it appears that M_PI is actually
defined by Single Unix Specification 2, aka UNIX98, for which
you need _XOPEN_SOURCE=500, and Cygwin has changed to enforce
this.
