[Bug 591721] New: openarena is unplayable after update
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=591721 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=591721#c0 Summary: openarena is unplayable after update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jslaby@novell.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com CC: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=351037) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=351037) Xorg.0.log After I updated to the latest factory, openarena turned out to be unusable. It looks like the previous frame is always rendered in between the next one. So that when one moves, everything moves back and forth -- the scene blinks -- some back buffer issue? The update in question. --- xaa 2010-03-28 20:55:09.526164916 +0200 +++ xbb 2010-03-28 20:55:13.329666149 +0200 @@ -1,13 +1,13 @@ -libdrm-devel-2.4.18-3.1.x86_64 -libdrm-2.4.18-3.1.x86_64 -libdrm-32bit-2.4.18-3.1.x86_64 -Mesa-32bit-7.7-8.1.x86_64 -Mesa-7.7-8.1.x86_64 +libdrm-devel-2.4.19-1.1.x86_64 +libdrm-2.4.19-1.1.x86_64 +libdrm-32bit-2.4.19-1.1.x86_64 +Mesa-32bit-7.7.99-1.1.x86_64 +Mesa-7.7.99-1.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-devel-7.4-31.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-driver-input-7.4-46.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-driver-video-7.5-2.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-driver-input-7.4-48.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-driver-video-7.5-3.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-fonts-core-7.4-9.1.noarch -xorg-x11-fonts-devel-7.4-7.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-fonts-devel-7.4-8.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-fonts-7.4-9.1.noarch xorg-x11-libfontenc-devel-7.4-9.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-libfontenc-32bit-7.4-9.1.x86_64 @@ -59,14 +59,14 @@ xorg-x11-libXv-devel-7.4-9.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-libXv-32bit-7.4-9.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-libXv-7.4-9.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-libX11-devel-7.4-17.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-libX11-32bit-7.4-17.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-libX11-7.4-17.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-25.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-server-extra-7.5_1.7.6-2.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-server-sdk-7.5_1.7.6-2.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-server-7.5_1.7.6-2.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-libX11-devel-7.4-17.2.x86_64 +xorg-x11-libX11-32bit-7.4-17.2.x86_64 +xorg-x11-libX11-7.4-17.2.x86_64 +xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-26.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-server-extra-7.5_1.7.99.902-2.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-server-sdk-7.5_1.7.99.902-2.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-server-7.5_1.7.99.902-2.1.x86_64 xorg-x11-util-devel-7.4-6.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-xauth-7.4-48.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-xauth-7.4-49.2.x86_64 xorg-x11-xtrans-devel-7.4-10.1.x86_64 -xorg-x11-7.4-48.1.x86_64 +xorg-x11-7.4-49.2.x86_64 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

libdrm: 2.4.18 --> 2.4.19 Mesa: 7.7 --> 7.8-pre xorg-server: 1.7.6 --> 1.8-pre
Is there a way to obtain older releases of them to confirm? (I need libdrm to be at least 2.4.18 because of GPU freezes with KMS in older releases.) Or maybe whole Xorg would have to be downgraded due to API/ABI dependencies? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

What's that? Could you explain?
It's what is in /proc/loadavg. I.e. load in the last 1, 5 and 15 minutes, captured every second while oa was running. From that, the CPU peak load was around 0,4. That means, that one process wanted a CPU 400 ms each second. I have no idea if this is releavant though. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's still terrible (11.3+xorg:devel). Should I open a bug at freedesktop?
Sure. Feel free to do so. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
