--- Comment #12 from Jon Nelson 2008-12-19 12:14:37 MST ---
(I had to uninstall the G02 drivers because having them present causes other
issues, however, please read on....)
I have removed those files.
I rebooted.
Now, this is weird, but I've rebooted 3 times to make sure.
1. if I say "yes" to the interactive boot prompt, everything works, even if my
first choice is "continue"
2. if I let the interactive boot prompt time out, the instant it times out, the
screen goes blank and everything described in comment 8 happens (no keyboard,
no network, no nothing.)
Current status: G02 drivers installed, wacky files removed, in X using my
external display and things look great. However, I've experienced two weird
things:
1. the strange interaction with the interactive boot stuff
2. twice now (about to try a third), if I log out or exit X, the entire machine
hangs hard. I don't know if network works but power buttons and all keyboards
become completely unresponsive (caps lock, for example, does not light/unlight
the right leds and such).
I'm going to exit X one more time right now.
