I agree to:
a) parted/libparted should be able to handle the partition table written
into the iso. So far only fdisk can be used here
b) the first partition start sector shouldn't be 0 but something useful
at least the legacy sector 63 layout or even better the same as parted's
default value 2048
I don't understand the recommendation to prevent the use of dd to dump
the iso on a storage disk. imho that invalidates the entire use case of
hybrid images which provides the iso and the disk layout in one
anyway I'm open for improvements on the hybrid iso side. imho most
important is that the disk layout is sane for all partition tools
on all OS'es including Windows.
By the way by today it's also possible to just store a standard live iso
(not hybrid) on the stick as a file on e.g a fat filesystem and install
the grub2 bootloader in a way that it boots the iso directly. For details
see #746351.
