This is characterized by the revision number being loaded as 0xff instead of 0x02. ethtool gives the link as 1000Mb/sec, when the problem occurs, instead of 100Mb/s when connected to the router. I have had this problem from new with MSI MS-7507 V1.0 Intel 945GC / ICH7 chipset, Realtek RTL8111C and 64 bit Celeron dual core running 11.0 32 bit retail but the problem has occured since alpha. Compiling the r8169 driver into the kernel makes the problem disappear 99% of the time but I have noticed that ejecting and loading a dvd during boot causes the problem to appear. If the driver is not compiled into the kernel the problem occurs on most boots and disconnecting the lan cable on boot and then reconnecting helps. Booting with pci=nomsi makes no difference.
