https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223991 Summary: ntpd does not work with NetworkManager Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: uli.2001@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Setting the time using ntpd does not seem to work when using NetworkManager to configure my ethernet device. I suspect that the device is not setup when ntpd is started. However, restarting ntpd later when the network is running does not correct the system time. A possible relevant part of /var/log/messages during startup is: Nov 27 07:52:31 linux ifup: Service network not started and mode 'auto' -> skipping Nov 27 07:52:32 linux ntpdate[3608]: can't find host ntps1.gwdg.de Nov 27 07:52:32 linux ntpdate[3608]: can't find host ntp1.ptb.de Nov 27 07:52:32 linux ntpdate[3608]: no servers can be used, exiting Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: ntpd 4.2.0a@1.1196-r Thu Jun 29 18:00:55 UTC 2006 (1) Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: precision = 1.000 usec Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: Listening on interface wildcard, 0.0.0.0#123 Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: Listening on interface wildcard, ::#123 Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: Listening on interface lo, 127.0.0.1#123 Nov 27 07:52:33 linux ntpd[3633]: kernel time sync status 0040 Nov 27 07:52:34 linux ntpd[3633]: frequency initialized -70.557 PPM from /var/lib/ntp/drift/ntp.drift -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
