This is generally a good idea for boot disks. dm-raids however can only report a geometry if they were given one. As grub might actually use the C/H/S addresses computed from the geometry in question, it should be correct, so making up a fake one is a bad idea. The proper geometry, as used by the BIOS, might reside in the on-disk information or might be queried via EDD.
