--- Comment #6 from Philippe Andersson 2010-09-09 07:20:00 UTC ---
Petr, Arvin,
I noticed the same problem on my server the other day (or even worse, because
it affects all filesystems, not only /). That machine is installed with
OpenSuSE 11.2 (vanilla install, fully patched).
I had to remove the boot splashscreen a while ago, and that's how I noticed
that the transaction log got replayed at every boot on all reiserfs partitions,
and an fsck was run on /boot (ext2), even though a clean shutdown had been run
the day before.
I will try your "patch" from comment #5 as soon as I can and post the result,
but my understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) is that the filesystems
are supposed to be dismounted when /etc/init.d/halt calls
"/etc/init.d/boot.b/K04boot.localfs stop".
I've already watched the console carefully during shutdown hunting for errors,
but couldn't see any. More to the point, I didn't see any console message
hinting at "boot.localfs" actually being called (even though other scripts from
/etc/init.d/boot.b are executed successfully). I then checked
/var/log/boot.omsg and sure enough, I can't find any mention of boot.localfs
being called during shutdown (file will be attached to this bug).
The steps that the "halt" script takes after calling all "K*" scripts in
/etc/init.d/boot.b (sending all processes the TERM / KILL signal, actually
turning off the poower) are visible on the console and do not trigger any
error.
