--- Comment #10 from Johannes Meixner 2010-01-22 16:26:08 UTC ---
Kernel modules for the USB host controller
have "hci" in its name.
E.g. on my workstation
lsmod | grep "hci"
shows the loaded kernel modules uhci_hcd, ohci1394, and ehci_hcd
where ohci1394 is acually a module for FireWire
(the "ohci" kernel module for USB should be named ohci-hcd).
On your system different "hci" kernel modules may be loaded.
The "uhci" and "ohci" kernel modules are for lower speed
while the "ehci" kernel module is for high speed.
If a "ehci" kernel module is loaded on your system,
try if it works when the "ehci" kernel module is unloaded
i.e. when you did as root
rmmod
e.g. on my workstation I would do
rmmod ehci_hcd
Note that because an "ehci" module should always be loaded before
"uhci" and "ohci" modules, you should reboot the whole system
to be on the safe side when you like to get "ehci" back.
