A question: When will we stop using this GDM? I believe that I and thousands of GNOME users are not satisfied with their poor visual.
Ok, three things: 1. GDM supports all there is to be supported and works, I don't see a good reason for changing it in GNOME, neither I would assume that the GNOME Team would allow that GDM was to be changed, specially when it even supported future required features that KDM doesn't. 2. I would not get KDM to install and it's dependencies on a GNOME install, I don't like my system tainted... only kernels should get tainted, not GNOME installs. 3. Red Hat is paying someone to redesign GDM, it might take a while, but it looks like that John McCann is going to do it. :)
(But this is subject to a new thread :) )

Same goes for bootsplash.
Here is an example, to outline what I mean:

Wow! Wonderful! Can we get something like this for gdm?
No, sorry, GDM does not support theming like KDM, anymore (only wallpaper changes).
