I had a look at this and to be very honest, I was kinda shocked to see this.
To me it seems as if we have been trying to put as much as possible in a box. Either the box is too small or we are trying to put too much in there. This
KDM screen doesn't fit with all the other artwork. It would be really a shame if we leave this in the distro.
Can we have a look at the theme of the lightdm-kde-greeter and create something similar for KDM ? In other words, Lets remove the box and make separate components. One component where you can select the user, the second
component for the userid and password and the third component for the shutdown, reboot, etc components.
In my opinion the third component should be at the bottom of the screen. The
second component can be placed inside a smaller box and should be in the middle of the screen. The first component with the user selection, is either
just above the second component or to the right. Definitely a smaller font has to be chosen.
IMO that is way to go for the KDM branding. I'll try to experiment in the next days with mentioned or similar setup.
@Marcus I didn't feel Raymond's tone was bad, it is just that the screen itself looks too cluttered, especially with > 1 users, and also especially if username doesn't fit the dimensions used for pictures (which i am also considering changing, as those one used here are really off with this design).
(Too be honest, the user-clickable greeter isn't anything ) Ignore this last part :-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
