Hi all, We have a workstation amd64 with updated kernel 2.4.x of SUSE 9.0. We would like to update to kernel 2.6 (rpm in ftp.suse.{de,com}). What's is the safe way to do that by keeping the current updated kernel 2.4 ?
The safest thing is to use a different partition. You need separate directories for all the files in /etc/* and /lib/modules/*. I'm sure the experts here will know alternatives.
That's not true. It works just fine on the same partition and the same /etc -Andi
