Don't worry. We changed that for 11.0 so patches and patterns don't pollute the system with an extra database appart of the rpm one. However, it now confuses users because the uninstall semantics are not visibly defined. We don't have a "usability solution yet, but we are open for proposals :-)
well ... iiuc, since patterns aren't physical, and can't be uninstalled -- or even allow their component packages to be removed as a group -- the match-when-satisfied is basically a reporting tool. how about the ability to specify "hiding" of selected/specific patterns from being either offered for install (in zypper cmd line, as well as in yast software install gui), or matched/reported when satisfied? something in "/etc/zypp/locks" perhaps? i already have there, type: pattern match_type: exact case_sensitive: on solvable_name: apparmor which I believe (still somewhat foggy ...) does prevent any of apparmor pattern's component packages from being installed. that's not what we'd want -- just to hide the pattern naming. a plug-nickel says that it's already doable and, as usual, i've missed it ... again -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help@opensuse.org
