This feature is nice for dynamically changing the UI to suit the data displayed - but without an ncurses option will you end up with UI's that are very hard to use (or unusable) from text mode.
Oh well, it would be just another widget supported by 'fancy' UI's and not in text mode. We already have quite some of those (Date, ColoredLabel etc.). If you want to use these, you always need some UI::GetDisplayInfo or UI::HasSpecialWidget workarounds in your code and come up with alternative solution for the text-mode. Some things are just not doable in ncurses, I'm sorry
Could it be just dummy? I mean, it wouldn't be necessary to check UI::GetDisplayInfo just like it is necessary for Date widget which is used for the real presentation of some data, so developer must code ncurses-special replacement. ncurses UI could just ignore it, or apply the default weights (which should new widget require anyway), and leave them fixed.
