Hello,
i hope this e-mail won't bother you, as i am not so sure that you are
the one to contact when such problems append !
Using a HP dv6 (dv6-1190en) with OpenSuse 11.2 (Linux -----
2.6.31.8-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-12-15 23:55:40 +0100 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) i can't access to vt/tty console with the
ctrl-alt-F1,2,3,4,5,6 keys. The screen get grey without any thing on it.
It's possible to come back to vt7 with a gdm/X11 interface.
I see some EE in Xorg.0.log but i don't know if it is related with the
vt/tty problem (see attached Xorg.radeonhd.log).
I see that the video card was not in the database :
(II) RADEONHD(0): Card not in database: 0x9480:0x103C:0x3628; using
generic modesetting.
If - and only if - your card does not work or does not work optimally
please contact radeonhd@opensuse.org to help rectify this.
Use the subject: 0x9480:0x103C:0x3628: <name of board>
and *please* describe the problems you are seeing
in your message.
(--) RADEONHD(0): Detected an M96 on an unidentified card
maybe it have some thing to do with my problem ???
I try the AMD/ATI catalyst driver ( see attached Xorg.ati.log) without
success for my tty problem. They do the same analysis on the card (NOT
original ATI) :
(--) fglrx(0): Chipset: "ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650" (Chipset = 0x9480)
(--) fglrx(0): (PciSubVendor = 0x103c, PciSubDevice = 0x3628)
(--) fglrx(0): board vendor info: third party graphics adapter - NOT
original ATI
(--) fglrx(0): Linear framebuffer (phys) at 0xc0000000
(--) fglrx(0): MMIO registers at 0xda000000
(--) fglrx(0): I/O port at 0x00007000
(==) fglrx(0): ROM-BIOS at 0x000c0000
(II) fglrx(0): Primary V_BIOS segment is: 0xc000
(By the way their driver seem to put the mess whit the webcam and their
2D is really poor compare to yours ;-) (whit firefox a simple scanning
of quit simple text pages is slooooow !!!))
With the material probing from yast here is the confirmation about
that ATI radeon HP

Don't know again if this point is related to my tty problem but at least
you may partially update your database whit these informations.
To finish with tty problem in failsafe mode (see attached
Xorg.failsafe.log) it's possible to access vt prompt.
About 3D i didn't succeed to enable it with catalyste and radeonHD.
glx in module section is not enough i imagine (see attached xorg.conf)
or (EE) (in Xorg.log) are impacting this functionality.
Thank you for your reply whatever it is.
If your not the one please let me know where to send this little problem.
If you need some informations don't hesitate.
Best regards
