configure currently checks for GL/gl.h availability, which isn't actually used in any of the code. It was introduced with 69d4dabe27aba0ed6aff52d210b045876ed36fce, supposedly to work around a Fiesty Fawn issue. This requires pulling in GL development headers, which seems overkill, and people have been getting caught off-guard by the requirement when trying to compile. Anyone with Ubuntu knowledge want to step in and propose a proper fix for this?
