Hi all,
these are some thoughts about patches that address bugs on
bugs.freedesktop.org (of which we are not exactly short at the moment).
I recently told Rafal that it would be nice to attach patches to the
according bugs, and not post them to the mailing list instead, so
everything is in one place.
At that point of time I clearly didn't think enough about processes, and
then I noted that it's *much* easier to apply patches from mails from
the mailing list than from attachments...
So I was wrong, sending patches to the list is highly appreciated in the
future as well, even if they correlate to a bug :-)
Just always include the bug number in the commit message, please
("fixes xorg bug #12345").
You can attach patches to the according bugs, especially if they are
work in progress, however, just adding the commit number after the patch
has been committed is probably more important. It's always good to have
a reference how the bug was actually fixed.
All this happens if you don't have clearly defined processes ;-)))
And thanks again for all the hard work
Matthias
