Hi folks!

Sorry for the late reply but bravia seems a bit beastly.
I took the xorg.conf as providd by Luc but the monitor could still not be
detected (log says vsync
out of range). I then tuned the vsync and hsync as long as the log tells me
that 1280x768 is
covered, but radeonhd still took the detected 1360x768 (which cuts off the
left border of my X).
With HDMI i obviously got no result at all.

I also tested the system with the latest fglrx and got the following results:
I was able to connect via VGA with up to 1024x768 but not higher (not even
With HDMI attached, I only could setup 720p (1280x720 which lefts out a large
spare black border).

I've got an RS690 chip with pci id 0x791E. It is onboard vga shipped
with Asus M2A-VM motherboard. By using radeonhd driver I also got VSync
problems. And I found that for RS690 we should not write ZERO to the
register D1CRTC_V_SYNC_A, otherwise the screen will blank off on VT
switching. We can safely write non-zero Values to D1CRTC_V_SYNC_A but
never ZERO. Anyway, this works for my chip. I don't know if will apply
to yours.

The monitor only reports 1280x768.

Let me provide you with some especially tailored xorg.conf stuff to work
around this.

Add the following monitor section:

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "bravia"
HorizSync 30-50
VertRefresh 58-62
Option "ReducedBlanking" "True"
Option "NoDDC" "True"

Add the following line to the "Device" section for the radeonhd driver:

Option "UseConfiguredMonitor" "True"

In the Screen section, reference your monitor:

Monitor "bravia"

Provide only the following mode in the "Display" subsection for your

Modes "1366x768R"

This will hopefully have the driver:
* Ignore ddc and use only the configured monitor.
* Autogenerate an exact 1366x768 mode (not 1360 or 1368) with reduced
blanking. (There is no other driver out there which will do this btw).
* And this mode should survive all modevalidation thanks to the provided
monitor timing.

If your monitor allows this mode through its VGA input, then this will

I've the same setup here. Pundit with RS690 and a Sony Bravia Panel.
Due the manual of the Bravia the highest resolution using the VGA-Input
is 1280x768. to get the full resolution of 1366x768 you have to connect
your pundit with an HDMI-cable, but i don't know if the radeonhd
supports the output through the hdmi-connector.
