I hit reply to all on this post, as asked, but only the addresses for the list and Larry were filled, not the one to Linda. I tried twice. Go figure. Ah, yes, there is a "reply-to" active. I'll leave only the list address, as per list netiquette.

It's far easier to delete an extra copy than to generate a copy of an email you don't know about *OR*, never received. I've seen multiple instances where list-email gets rejected for some reason or another, but personal mail goes through. I receive notices from the suse list manager that some list messages didn't go through. If they were replies to me, I won't know what I missed unless it was also sent directly to me.
You can find out what was lost and/or tell the list server to send it again. In my case, all those cases are spam, or at least posts my ISP thinks are spam.

p.s. -- I used to never speak up about this issue until I realized that those who get extra copies almost always speak up and have been getting lists to adopt their views. It's a matter of them being too lazy to delete an extra copy or set their filters to delete duplicates, vs. the affect on those who, for whatever reason, don't get ANY copy when only a list-copy is sent.
If you send a copy to all, when the recipient is on gmail, he will not receive the copy from the mail list. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
