I get the impression it was old hands being booted off. That means you're probably right. About the ONLY thing that should get people kicked out is abusive behaviour, but that really does need *immediate* action. Which is why moderators need to be part of the group, because they can tell the difference between a new guy coming in and causing trouble, and an old hand overstepping the line. (Unfortunately, somebody out to cause trouble can make many people leave before the majority are confident to step up and take action.
