I am having a problem with an Asix 88179 USB 2/3 to Gbps Ethernet chipset adapter communicating with a Cisco SF302-08pp managed switch and an RV082 router. I know the adapter works as if I avoid the switch and router all together, traffic is routed, and that also indicates there is no problem with the ax88179_178a driver. Of note, the switch/router have 10/100 Mbps ports and the adapter talks at 1Gbps A colleague of mine thinks the problem might be even though the switch and router both auto-negotiate to the 100 Mbps speed, there still might be a problem with the speeds at which the ports are communicating. I have an SR in with Cisco to get their official word, but I thought I'd ask here if anyway else has had this problem. Looking for verification that I am not alone, and if there are any config changes I can make on the computer side of things - maybe an ethtool option to train down the speed at which the adapter communicates, instead of letting auto-negotiation take place. I'd rather not replace the Cisco gear I have, I bought them specifically for allowing me to do complicated network setups for a cloud project I am working on. And before you ask, the reason I need the adapter is that the Intel NUCs I am working with do not have two built-in interfaces (which would be ideal). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
