I have signed up for some on-line classes/ webinars that use webex. In my research to figure out how to make this work, all I have been able to come up with is that webex is a java based cisco application, set up mostly for 32 bit, that people use for interactive web conferencing. That is the reason the company I signed up with the classes uses webex - for the interaction. But right now I am just trying to view the previously recorded classes. I have to use firefox.
However, I can't really figure out what I am supposed to do to make it work here on my laptop, besides running it in windows in a virtual machine. I can't really do this on this laptop, because the hard drive is really too small to make enough space for a virtual machine. However, I do need to be able to do these classes when I am sometimes traveling.
So, here is what happens when I click on the link to start viewing the recorded session. In the screen shots, I hit yes on the prompts. http://picpaste.com/Screenshot_20160509_115306-Cmz4wzCg.png http://picpaste.com/Screenshot_20160509_115402-Jr6fbIR7.png http://picpaste.com/Screenshot_20160509_115412-ObbeP65l.png http://picpaste.com/Screenshot_20160509_115422-r8v3E2w1.png
Here is a link to an ubuntu page where someone was trying to set it up. http://askubuntu.com/questions/368270/how-to-i-make-cisco-webex-work-with-13...
Unfortunately, I get lost on point #3 in the answer section: "Start a WebEx to create |.so| files inside |$HOME/.webex/????/|."
What does it mean to "start a WebEx"? I am just clicking the playback button on my browser window. I understand that mac and windows apparently have a specific webex application, I think.
This post seems a little confusing, so I will try to clarify. Basically, I am just trying to figure out how to run webex in firefox on my leap system on my new laptop. I have never run anything having anything to do with webex before, and I am very confused on how to get started, and there are no blogs or tutorials that are helpful. They all start with assuming that you have some level of knowledge of what webex is and how to use it. But I don't even know what I am supposed to install to try and make it work.
WebEx is binary application; Java is used only to deploy it. I briefly tried to join test meeting under Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit using IcedTea Java plugin and got as far as actually launching WebEx itself. It indeed installed quite a lot of stuff under ~/.webex bor@bor-Latitude-E5450:~/src/dracut$ LC_ALL=C LANG=C ll ~/.webex/1524/ total 34664 drwxrwxr-x 2 bor bor 4096 May 9 21:37 ./ drwxrwxr-x 3 bor bor 4096 May 9 21:36 ../ -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 4591 May 9 21:37 INSTALL* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 221 May 9 21:37 SCRIPT* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 69 May 9 21:37 as.ini -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 187128 May 9 21:36 atanno* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 184126 May 9 21:36 atarm2.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 11737 May 9 21:36 atas.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 1421792 May 9 21:36 atascli.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 61272 May 9 21:36 atasjni* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 45477 May 9 21:36 atfilesr.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 62164 May 9 21:37 atgzip.so* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 89490 May 9 21:36 athybrid.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 132012 May 9 21:37 atjpeg.so* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 72935 May 9 21:36 atlchat.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 29516 May 9 21:36 atnotes.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 94855 May 9 21:36 atphone.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 310572 May 9 21:37 atpng.so* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 136277 May 9 21:36 atpoll2.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 56817 May 9 21:36 atrecord.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 445144 May 9 21:36 atres.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 55744 May 9 21:36 attp.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 33593 May 9 21:36 atusrlst.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 124091 May 9 21:36 atutil.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 412267 May 9 21:36 atwbxmgr.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 6712 May 9 21:36 base64.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 45029 May 9 21:37 ca.pem* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 20128 May 9 21:36 dtappcli.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 32125 May 9 21:36 hybridaudio.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 139580 May 9 21:39 javaconsole_05092016_213737.wbt -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 69283 May 9 21:36 jni_atdocvu.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 3182534 May 9 21:38 jointest-presentation.ucf -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 4282732 May 9 21:37 libAudioEngine.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 3995412 May 9 21:37 libatdv.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 1610408 May 9 21:37 libcmcrypto_jni.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 13044 May 9 21:37 libdbr.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 637060 May 9 21:37 libgdiplus.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 406268 May 9 21:36 libmmaud.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 2533816 May 9 21:37 libmmsvid.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 6238560 May 9 21:37 libmsess.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 30072 May 9 21:37 libtpwrap.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 12588 May 9 21:37 libwbxtrace.so* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 142300 May 9 21:37 libwelsvp.so* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 604027 May 9 21:36 lnx_as.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 127081 May 9 21:36 lnx_aud_svc.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 4245262 May 9 21:37 lnx_base_svc.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 1770825 May 9 21:37 lnx_dv.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 858090 May 9 21:37 lnx_vid_svc.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 7094 May 9 21:37 mm_ataudio.jar -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 53797 May 9 21:37 mm_atvideo.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 21426 May 9 21:37 runconfig* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 9001 May 9 21:37 runexport* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 4285 May 9 21:37 runsoffice* -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 9068 May 9 21:37 soloader.jar* -rw-rw-r-- 1 bor bor 26027 May 9 21:37 swingx.jar -rwxrwxr-x 1 bor bor 258160 May 9 21:37 welsdec.so* bor@bor-Latitude-E5450:~/src/dracut$ Note that you will need to install 32 bit libraries; previously I had to setup other 32 bit programs (like Skype and Citrix Receiver) so I probably already had most prerequisites. So instructions on web page you quoted are correct as long as you have working Java plugin (where "working" may also mean "not too new" unfortunately). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
