Ha, a shared sentiment, and someone my age ;-D. (My phorum name is xen82). To get my short opinion: LILO probably wasn't good enough anymore, But Grub2 is a nightmare. I have so many times wrestled with its command prompt when something had failed again and AGAIN. The system is 80% guarantee that something will go wrong. It seems to be highly configurable but it's almost impossible to do. The basic tenets of having a good presentation in your boot screen (the first thing you or someone else sees when you boot up your computer or get past the BIOS screen) are not met. It is an utterly flawed product, both architecturally and from a user interface point of view. The inability to customize your boot screen because they are auto generated based on defaults, is the worst. I have currently a handcrafted boot menu but I will have to replace it each time the kernel is updated, most likely. On Tue, 1 Sep 2015, ellanios82 wrote:
