Assuming you are using KDE: - unlock widgets - add widget - choose "application launcher" widget and set it to whatever application you like.
There may exist other ways but this is how I do it.
Thank you, Radule, for this reminder. I keep forgetting that nothing happens until one unlocks the darn widgets! :-) (Why do the widgets have to be locked to begin with?!) TOR has now its own icon and is sitting in the quick launch panel next to the 'proppa' Firefox.
