If indeed his root problem is bad EDID, 13.1 won't make his trouble go entirely away. Xorg will still need to have monitor fundaments provided via config file, but if also his gfxchip is too new for 11.3's radeon driver, then 13.1 will provide better options than 720x350, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 once given essential P990 monitor data (HorizSync & VertRefresh) to work with. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
