All this past week, I have been trying to get dovecot to work properly. Rather than just that one line, can you pelase show us the output of dovecot -n
# 2.1.17: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf
GOOD! So do it the v2 way!
mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/mail/%u
This is WRONG. It should be in a namespace not 'raw' like this[1]
namespace inbox {
This seems to be your default and is maildir format NOTE: it says "inbox".
inbox = yes location = mailbox Drafts { special_use = \Drafts } mailbox Junk { special_use = \Junk } mailbox Sent { special_use = \Sent } mailbox "Sent Messages" { special_use = \Sent } mailbox Trash { special_use = \Trash } prefix = } passdb { driver = pam } plugin { sieve = ~/.dovecot.sieve sieve_dir = ~/sieve } protocols = imap lmtp ssl = no userdb { driver = passwd }
The docc in the wiki2 also says <quote> By default the mail_location setting is empty, which means that Dovecot attempts to locate automatically where your mails are. </quote> So why not simply remove it and see what happens. [1] Yes I know the docc talks about 'overrides' but obviously this isn't working for you, whereas I've had no problems with a 'pure' namespace approach. -- /"\ \ / ASCII Ribbon Campaign X Against HTML Mail / \ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
