However, re NoScript. I just successfully moved it from a spot on the toolbar to another spot - and back again. I think this procedure applies to all icons on the toolbar: click on Vew>Toolbars>Customise and MOVE the icon to the Customise menu by lt-click-hold - then move it the same way to where you want the icon to appear.

Yep,
I know you can move it. It moved the first time I tried customize. But now NOTHING will move any more without starting in --safe-more. Something is borked in my firefox config. Which brings me to the point of needing to find a way of fixing it without losing my cache, cookies, etc.. What I would like to do is preserve all my data (I've backed up the bookmarks, but what concerns me is all the form data, passwords, etc for the hundreds of sites it has stored in the sqlite tables, my dictionaries, block lists, etc..). E.g.:
[pruned] I started using Firefox waaaaay back when it was Netscape and then eventually turned into FF with TB a separate app. This was on Windows-whatever. When I switched over to openSUSE I simply transferred the /.mozilla contents from Windows directly to oS and have been using same ever since. Of course, I did have to do a cleanup after some years to clean out the accumulated bookmarks etc but basically I am still using the same files as when I did in Windows. In other words, by simply copying over your /.mozilla directory you will retain all your passwords, bookmarks, etc. However, all the information you really need to retain is kept in /home/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxx.default/ so it is this sub-dir that you should pay attention to. I mention this because when install a fresh copy of Firefox and run it for the first time it creates /home/.mozilla/firefox/zzzzzz.default so if you want to use your old bookmarks, etc then you need to delete this zzzzz.default and replace it with your /xxxxx.default which you backed up.
I guess the question is, what do I need to preserve to create a new profile and start clean and then be able to move all my data back into the new profile. Do you know of a good link? I'll can search for one of a bizallion on the net, most of which will be utter garbage, but at least I can browse for now, so until I get time to do it, I'll probably just live with this for the time being.
Click on HELP>Firefox Help and this will take you to the Mozilla site where you will find a FAQ section - or similar - where you find which files hold the passwords, the bookmarks, etc. BC -- Using openSUSE 13.1, KDE 4.13.2 & kernel 3.15.5-1 on a system with- AMD FX 8-core 3.6/4.2GHz processor 16GB PC14900/1866MHz Quad Channel RAM Gigabyte AMD3+ m/board; Gigabyte nVidia GTX660 GPU -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
