Is 13.1 too far from 11.4? Yes, it is *really* far and such upgrade path is completely unsupported.. that said I am not ruling out the possibility of getting a working system upgraded using zypper.. but it might get trickier than usual.
I guess I can try 12.x first and then 13.1. I have a full backup made, so there's no risk. It would be nice if one Evergreen could be upgraded to the next without problem.
You could try upgrading directly to 13.1, some tips to get out of the mess: ** WARNING., this has a large potential to eat your babies and take much more time than clean install** -After setting up the needed repositories.. upgrade rpm, zypper and its dependencies first, DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! - Perform the complete procedure in runlevel 3. - run zypper dup --no-recommends --download-only check the conflict reports carefully. (--download-only because the networking bits might stop working during the real upgrade) - After the previous step run zypper dup --no-recommends again, commend your soul to the devil. - before reboot, ensure you have a working menu.lst with a working initrd to boot the machine. - If something crashes in the middle, just try restarting the upgrade. -- Cristian "I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
