Hello all,
I need to set some environment variables and I have stated where I have placed them. Please check whether I am correct or is there any duplication/redundancy:
1. Locale LC_ALL=en_IN.utf-8 This has been set in ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc. A separate executable file is also created under ~/.kde4/env/
YaST{2} -> System -> /etc/sysconfig Editor -> Environment -> Language especially look at RC_LANG
That's for a global, systemwide, setting. For a per user setting, there is the file "~/.i18n". It allows fine tuning: cer@minas-tirith:~> cat .i18n LC_TIME="en_DK.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="es_ES@euro" LC_TELEPHONE="es_ES@euro" LC_MEASUREMENT="es_ES@euro" It is a standard, but unfortunately it is not supported by all desktops (yes, there is at least a Bugzilla on this). Actually, it is a problem with the session manager (gdm, kdm, etc), IIRC. I have it working here (13.1) but at this minute I don't remember if the bug was corrected, or I implemented a hack that turned out in the Bugzilla. I don't have a perfect memory! Otherwise, the place would be the ~/.profile file. Actually, it is a commented out section inside: # Most applications support several languages for their output. # To make use of this feature, simply uncomment one of the lines below or # add your own one (see /usr/share/locale/locale.alias for more codes) # This overwrites the system default set in /etc/sysconfig/language # in the variable RC_LANG. # #export LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for German output #export LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for French output #export LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 # uncomment this line for Spanish output - -- Cheers Carlos E.
