I'm running 12.3 on a ThinkPad W530 without any issues. Core i7, 8GB of memory, 180GB Intel SSD, and have two external 1920x1080 displays (for three total, including the laptop's display.) I am using the NVidia Quadro K1000M video card rather than the Intel one, but didn't have to do any special configuration or install any special drivers to get that to work either, which is wonderful :) Chris

I'm considering buying a new laptop, and run opensuse on top of it. Any good suggestions?
I will mainly use the laptop to do simulation (octave, R) and writing papers (latex). So I prefer a computer with a powerful cpu. Graphics chip is not important to me , and I guess configuring graphics chip for Linux box is still a mess.
Thanks for you suggestions,

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite E45t-A4300 and installed openSuse 12.3 and 13.1 on it as a multiboot with Windows 8. It has an installed i5M cpu. For the price of the computer I thought it was a good deal. It seems to be a durable computer not prone to breaking, which is good for me since I travel a lot and it spends a lot of time bumping around in a computer case enroute to wherever. It works great with both versions of opensuse, and it was easy to install opensuse. I didn't have to do anything to get the wifi working, as the wifi and ethernet worked right from the installation of the operating systems. I do have one issue with the boot, though. I haven't been able to get the grub2-efi to boot first, using every suggestion that I could find on the internet except one. I have to boot into windows 8 to get the computer to boot from grub on the next restart, to boot into opensuse. I expect to resolve that issue shortly so I can boot into opensuse on initial boot.
