I would like to move data between two computers. One is a box running oS 12.2 and is connected to a router via cable. The other computer (netbook with oS 12.1 or android ICS tablet) connects to the same router via wifi. Asking whatismyip in a browser gives the same result, so setting up and ftp connection based on IP is not possible. So how can I share data between the machines? I mean without connecting them with a cord.
Both computers have the same *external* address, outside your router, but not the same within your *local* network inside your router. You can see which local address each computer has by: as root ifconfig |grep inet\ addr\: will return something like: inet addr:192.168.1.10 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 where 192.168.1.10 is the address of that computer as assigned by your router, or as you told your router to assign. to access this box from the *other* computer, ssh -Y <user>@192.168.1.10 or use dolphin and smb://<user>@192.168.1.10 -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
