Mark, I believe that your difficulty lies in the fonts available to display documents. And those fonts belong to your operating system, openSUSE, not libreoffice.

I, of course, wouldn't dream of condoning such behaviour but I did overhear this said in a pub a while back: if you know someone who is using Windows then you can use those fonts by copying them into /usr/share/fonts/truetype - and, of course, excluding those with 'funny', 'yucky', names. That is what I overheard.
