Interesting... but on the end, they do not find the affected file directly, but by brute force:
[Step 4] Try then to find the affected file [3]:
tar -cO /mydir | cat >/dev/nul
Ie, read all the files until it finds an error, or not. It will tell which file, or in a region where there are no files.
I did not try this procedure on ReiserFS, just on ext3fs, where debugfs does provide the path to file. I thought the Step4 was for the case when previous step returned: 484335 is free in ondisk bitmap. But I was wrong, even in case the block is used, debugreiserfs does not provide the file path.
