Hi All,
New to opensuse, I try to build the newly installed machine with its current kernel version.
I'm sure what you're trying to do should work, but I do everything via osc these days. osc is a package builder for opensuse that is used by all of the packaging team, so it gets routinely used. I have seen some complaints from users that people trying to build without osc often hit roadblocks that the main developers don't see. To use osc, first log in to build.opensuse.org (OBS). (You may have to register if you don't have a opensuse account yet. One account is shared between multiple opensuse websites.) Once you have an account verified on the website, install osc: sudo zypper in osc Then create a working director to keep your various packages. I use ~/obs: mkdir ~/obs cd ~/obs umask 0022 (The tutorial calls for this for some reason. I normally don't do this.) # create a local copy of the official kernel package. osc co openSUSE:12.2 kernel-desktop # cd into the new directory that now contains the package cd ~/obs/openSUSE:12.2/kernel-desktop #build the kernel osc build Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
