Why is this difference, where is it documented, and how could I fix it, prevent the removing /media/floppy?
Do not use /media/floppy, use /mnt/floppy. You never should have used media, and now you are forced not to.
Please excuse me for being stubborn but it would be very inconvenient to move floppy from /media (there are other users for whom moving an icon somewhere else causes serious trouble). As I remember correctly in suse 9.x, 10x floppy's normal location was /media. And it should be in media since it is a media along with CD, DVD and removable flashdisks.
Documented in release notes, it is a ram disk.
I think it's nonsense that I have to mount one removable media here and other there. This might be logical from the viewpoint of developers and sysadmins but sure not from that of average users. All media should go the same place independently from how they are mounted. So the question is how I can prevent remove of /media/floppy created manually.
