They have added back normal text boundaries in 3.6.
But unfortunately only the boundaries of the edited part are shown as I
remember correctly.
I prefer to see all boundaries independently from which area I work in.
That is I like to see boundaries of the header and footer even if I
work in the main text part. And I like to see the main area text boundaries
even if I edit header/footer.
Frankly, I can't imagine what kind of brainstorm can result in such dramatic
changes of user interface. I even don't see why it had to be changed at all.

This bug alone is reason enough to install the latest LibO: That stupid
Header/Footer popup thing is driving me crazy. Is it actually fixed
in this release? (I haven't installed/tested yet)

And is it still crashing on saving xlsx? For me now across several
versions, on the rare occasion I need to save an xlsx, LibO crashes
100% of the time across several installs on different computers. This
bug is probably the relevant one:
