Every time after a reboot I have to readjust the master volume from 0. I have looked if this feature is somewhere configured but did not find anything which could be of help. Could somebody be of assistance?
Constant,
Sometimes this issue come from deeper than application.
Please, go via YaST->Hardware->Sound->
I have the same problem in one of my machines (the others are fine). Only it's not just at reboot, but every time I logout and login, the volume of Front in YaST->Hardware->Sound->Other->Volume is set back to zero. And this particular volume cannot be controlled by KMix, only in YaST. It drives me nuts.
Carlos, is there a difference in setup of the machines? That could give an indication where to look at.
Not really. I follow religiously the standard setup that I prepare for all my lab students ( http://goo.gl/khFNw ). The only difference is hardware. But I think there should be a config file somewhere where YaST stores these values, isn't there?
Actually, there is one difference. I installed Rosegarden and KMid and VMPK only in this machine. I will try uninstalling them.
No Rosegarden and KMid for me. Nothing special at the sound side of my setup. Could clean up some volume programs like KMix Gamix and so and see if that helps.
