Hello Listmembers,
Wonder what is the best scanning software available for OpenSUSE.
I tested "Simple Scan" but the generated scan both PDF or JPG (also by reducing the default resolution), is very big in size, I would like a compressed/reduced size preferably on PDF format, in order to send the final document through email.
I use "The Gimp" to scan and compress the images (it calls xsane). You can modify several settings and see how adjusting quality affects size (jpg). Although the best compressor for scanned text and photos is "DjVu", and can only be generated from the command line. It can also generate multipage documents. PDF is not the best format for this, except that everybody has it. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
