I'm running openSUSE 12.1 on 64 bit AMD with a nVidia video card... using KDE4.7.4 from the Factory repo and it's rock solid. My computer runs 24x7 with no flickering etc at all... in fact no significant issues.
I have a similar setup. The only issue I've noticed is that the computer is more sluggish with 12.1, compared to 11.0. I bought my motherboard about 5.5 years ago.
How do you guys determine comparability with no mention of which NVidia chip used or which driver used?
Psychic links between KDE4 users ;-) I'm running AMD Athlon X2 6400+ (3.2GHz dual core), Gigabyte GA-770-UD3 motherboard, 8GB RAM, nVidia GTX260 using the last available nVidia binary driver from the nVidia repo, openSUSE 12.1 using btrfs, and KDE4.7.4 Factory. I think that covers it... and my 12.1 install is very noticeably faster than 11.4, is rock solid stable...ish (I did have the btrfs drive go into panic mode at one point, but that was easily fixed). Even the default KDE4.7 is fast and stable... fast enough that I'm also running it on an Asus EEE Netbook (Atom 1.6GHz, 2GB RAM, Intel GME945) and it's fine. This machine is a default install, no Factory repos. Granted I don't run the laptop 24x7 like the desktop, but I've not noticed any significant issues that are not already reported in bug reports against 12.1.
