There is a known bug with my wireless card. My wireless card is a Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61). I don't know for sure what the bug is or how to reference it because when I first installed openSUSE, I had help from an experienced user, and he is the one who found the bug. I don't remember where or how to look for it, but he looked it up as we were trying to get my wireless card to work, and found that this particular card has never been able to work with Network Manager, but has to be controlled manually by ifup from Yast. So when we first set it up, we were able to make it run fine with Yast and ifup. Then just recently I upgraded to openSUSE 12.1, and we decided to try KNetwork Manager again to see if the new kernel had fixed the problem with this particular card. It had not, so I set it up in Yast and it worked just fine. Another problem before in 11.4 was that if I went to system standby by closing the lid on my laptop (suspend to ram), when I came back up, the wireless card would not power up. I had to completely reboot, and then the wireless card would work and I could connect. So I wanted to see if this was fixed in 12.1. I closed the lid and went to standby, and then when I brought it back up, it would not power up. So I rebooted my system, like I had done in 11.4, and it still would not power back up. When I go to a console and type as root "ifup wlan0", here is what I get: wlan0 device: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61) wlan0 is controlled by ifplugd command 'iwconfig wlan0 power off' returned Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported. RTNETLINK answers: Operation not possible due to RF-kill RTNETLINK answers: Operation not possible due to RF-kill Cannot enable interface wlan0. interface wlan0 is not up I have verified that my wireless switch is on, so that is not the problem. My computer is a Lenovo 3000 V200 laptop. I am running openSUSE 12.1 and KDE 4.7. update - I rebooted again, this time into 11.4, which I still have in a different partition, and the wireless card started up again. Then I rebooted back into 12.1, and my wireless card started up this time. Naturally I can't plan on having to reboot into 11.4 and then rebooting into 12.1 every time just to get my wireless to work, but that is the workaround for now. What other information do I need to post to make this problem more clear? I can reproduce the problem anytime.
