There are also several KDE4 plasma widgets that show various bits of useful info about your drive space. Yeah, I have to try this one only, I have KDE.
konqueror sysinfo:/ (from alt+f2) Gives a quick overview of disk usage + all sorts of other useful stuff. You can make a quick button for this by dragging konqueror from the start menu to a panel, then right click > icon settings > application > command, and there you write "konqueror sysinfo:/".
